My mother refused as I was still in school. So it was my first offer.”

Kapil asked Mandakini about the offers she received after Ram Teri Ganga Maili, and she quipped, “There were many good films offered after that, and I even signed a few. I shot for the first 10 days and then that director just vanished in thin air. He never returned, I even tried searching for him. Luckily, I had taken an amount in advance for it. “
7.) Heroines had more songs than dialogues in the films

Sangeeta Bijlani and Mandakini share how in those days having songs in the show was more important for heroines than having dialogues. Sangeeta said, “In a multi-starrer film all the actors would go to the scriptwriter to get their scenes extended and due to this the heroines in the films would barely have any lines. That is how we used to wait for the scriptwriter to come on the sets and then give us our scene.” Madakini added, “While shooting for more films at the same time if we told the director to give us our lines soon then they would ask us to give expressions for 30 mins and we were done for the day, they didn’t need a heroine in the scene.”
Sangeeta further revealed, “When the producers and directors would approach for the film offers they would tell us, ‘tension mat lo, aapke film me 3 gaane hai’, in those days having 3 songs in the film on the heroine was a huge thing. “

Even when I went to Kolhapur, my Marathi film turned out to be a big hit at that time. A fan rang my room’s bell at 6:30 am, I thought it was the room service boy but this man stood there asking for an autograph. I was in such a terrible state and I yelled at him.”
10.) There was a rumour that Mandakini’s father shot her

When Kapil asked about weird rumours that they have heard about themselves, Mandakini shared, “There was a news spread that my father shot me. When I went to the sets, Vinodji was so miffed at me and he asked, “I don’t have a personality, am I not your favourite?” and I was like, “You are extremely charming and I find you extremely handsome.”
12.) I used to find Rishi Kapoor arrogant but that was not the reality: Varsha

I did the film Honeymoon with Rishi Kapoor. I was very excited about the film and to work with him as he was Raj Kapoor’s son. But I always found him arrogant and never spoke to him much. We used to barely speak on the sets like ‘Hi, how was your day?’ or ‘Today the weather is good.’ Sureshji would push me to go speak to him but I couldn’t. Later, when I read his biography Khullam Khulla, he mentioned all his heroines and also my name in there. This made me feel amazing.”

When we met for the first time he didn’t know Hindi, so I had to tell his mom and then she would translate it for him. Gladly, by the time we got married, he learnt Hindi.”
